Slight spoilers ahead. Don’t watch the trailer if you aren’t up to date with the Horizon: Zero Dawn storyline as it spoils an important reveal. Beware.
The new game showcases protagonist Aloy journeying to new areas, tackling new threats, and exploring hidden ruins. The trailer also gave us a brief look at the more mammalian-looking robotic megafauna, as well as what underwater exploration might look like (such as finding robotic alligators).
Aloy is on a journey to stop the new robotic infestation threatening to end the world in Horizon: Forbidden West, reflected by strange red plants and other forms of corruption. It also turns out that she’s not the only one can tame robotic animals, as she encounters new human enemies that, like her, seem to have the ability to tame the robotic animals for their own use.
Horizon: Forbidden West is set for release on the PS5 as a console-exclusive. Horizon: Zero Dawn, meanwhile, is already set for a PC release date soon. It might arrive as early as June or July of 2020. The original game and its expansion are immediately available for everyone to play on the PS4.
