Spike Chunsoft has finally announced the long-awaited video game adaptation of popular Isekai Re:Zero called Re:Zero -Starting Life in Another World- The False Royal Selection Candidate that will release on the PS4, Switch, and PC (appearing on Steam).
The game seems like it’s the same title as Re:Zero – The Prophecy of the Throne, found via Amazon U.K. listing. That said, it is actually a brand-new title and not an updated version of Re:Zero – Starting Life in Another World – Death or Kiss which released for the PS4 and PlayStation Vita in Japan in March of 2017.
We’ve also included some additional screenshots of the game!
One month after Subaru’s new life in another world began, an emissary sent by the Royal castle suddenly appears with news that the Royal selection has been postponed, but offers no reason as to why. The postponement of this grand event that decides the next ruler of the kingdom of Lugunica stirs Subaru and his friends into action. They return to the Royal Capital only to find that a sixth candidate has claimed their stake for the throne. But the Dragon Stone prophesizes that only five Candidates would be chosen. With one candidate being an imposter, suspicions are immediately cast toward One woman in particular: Emilia. What answers lie beyond the mysterious web of assassination, betrayal, and conspiracies…?
Re:Zero – The Prophecy of the Throne features an original story that is managed by original Re:Zero author Tappei Nagatsuki. Gameplay-wise, the genre leans more towards “Tactical Adventure” that will include many of Subaru’s deaths. Luckily, there is a special system that will allow you to “time leap” back to certain points after Subaru suffers a death.
Oh, and here’s a few more screenshots that share some insights pertaining to gameplay:
Re:Zero – The Prophecy of the Throne will make its debut this Winter in Japan for PS4, Switch, and PC on Steam.
