Famitsu (a weekly line of Japanese game magazines) offers more information in relation to Yo-kai Watch Jam: Yo-kai Academy Y. You might wonder why it might sound familiar, and that’s because it’s actually a spinoff game based off of the movie with the same name. Jinpei Jiba (basically Jibanyan) and friends attend Y-Academy and learn to fuse with yokai in Yokai Heroes.
As a player in Yo-kai Academy Y, you get to play through average school days by taking lessons, heading to school, joining clubs, and enjoying your free time! That’s not to say things won’t change up, as random events occur like student confessions. Your choices will directly impact where the events go after that. Once you partake in battles, one thing to keep in mind is that you aren’t exactly in it for the easy win. Rather, you must finish off the yokai in stylish and cool ways to become popular.
You get to play as Jinpei, Sandayuu, Fubuki, Matarou, Mera, Ranto, Ryuusuke, and a new character named Chiaki. It appears that you don’t have to be locked into playing as just Jinpei.
Yo-kai Watch Jam: Yo-kai Academy Y will be release on the PS4 and Nintendo Switch in Japan during the Summer of 2020.
