A new Tekken 7 developer’s diary has been released showcasing the new original characters, Leroy Smith and Fakumram. Game director, Ikeda, talks about the lore behind the character’s martial arts. They also discuss the process in which the artists went through in order to finalize the character’s design.
We are given glimpses of their motion-capture work behind the character’s move sets. This time, they got help from Ip Man’s nephew to make the action appear more genuine. The motion we saw from Leroy Smith’s reveal trailer in EVO 2019 was done on a real wooden dummy that they had brought to the studio. Even more, they recorded the actual sound of the master striking the wooden dummy.
Fahkumram, the Muay Thai champion, was designed with the intention of making him large and intimidating.
Tekken 7 is available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. There will be a new feature called “My Replay & Tips” coming to the game on January 28, 2020. The feature is designed to help players through match replays to learn from previous experiences. Leroy Smith was released as a DLC character last year on December 10, 2019. Fakumram has no confirmed release date but is expected to be out on Spring 2020.
